Are ACER laptops good? I am looking to buy a new ACER with the following specs? Or keep my current DELL?

Are ACER Laptops a decent brand to buy for a laptop? Im looking to buy the following ACER laptop with the following specs from my computer buying program at my work. The total cost for the laptop will be around $1200.00. Is this computer worth it?

I also have a current DELL Laptop which is about 4 yrs old. I would say a 1GB also with windows XP. I needs a new battery, a new charger and the sound jack saudered back to working again because riright now it has no sound. Would it be better to fix my current DELL laptop or get the ACER?
So an ACER is not as good as HP or DELL? Are the cheaply made is that why the are cheap? And Would it be a rip off to get this laptop at $1200.00? Would it be beneficial to get this or any laptop at 1GB memory and just upgrade it to 2GB memory myself? Or just fix the current dell?

I need help on what to get my dad for Christmas. Help?

Okay, so I want to get a present for my 57 year old father.
He doesn’t like sports anymore so suggesting gof clubs would be terrible. :]
He works as a computer programmer and he has a good sense of humour.
I’m tired of getting him gift cards because a lot of the time he doesn’t really use them. [unless it's like home depot or lowes]
He likes working on things on the house.
So in conclusion.. I would love to get him something meaningfull that he’ll really enjoy. Plus, it’d be nice if it was under 30 dollars.

What do i get my dad?!?

I have like, zero money, and my dad is always the hardest to shop for. His favorite place is home depot, but my mom already got him every tool known to man, plus gift cards and such. He basically has no interest in anything except home depot. Haha. So any ideas? It needs to be cheap, no clothes or anything, but I guess it has to be kinda random? He is so difficult! Haha.

Any way to register for a service vs. products for your wedding?

I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to register for a service rather than products? My fiancé and I don’t need the typical items you would register for (dishes, appliances, etc) but are in desperate need of some work to be done around the house (someone to come out and paint the house, new
carpet installed, etc.). Does anyone know of a website where you could register for the this? We have tried Lowes and Home Depot but they don’t allow you to register for services and you can’t pay for them with a gift card.

Advice going pro se against large corp. who wants to escalate from small claims to civil court..?

Long story short I have filed suit in small claims court here in Terrebonne Parish Louisiana against Home Depot b/c they sold us an entire house full of windows that were not up to local code and told us they didn’t sell the windows we wanted that were up to code so they sold us windows w/ a low DP. To their credit, after demanding they give us our money back for the windows they did, however; we had to pay our framer 800.00 to un install and reinstall the right windows from another company.At any rate they offered to give us $100 gift card for all of that. I am due next month and having a c-section and we won’t be quite ready to move in yet, we couldn’t pass inspection so we had to sit on 120K compounding interest b/c we couldn’t move forward and hurricane gustav blew all of our cellulose insulation out b/c we sprayed bf the hurricane…all of this would have been avoided had they not done what they did. Their lawyers answered my suit by requesting the case be transferred to civil court. What can I do? Where do I find resources to go pro per and why are they requesting a change? I assume it’s a tactic b/c I cannot navigate a courtroom. It’s only $3000 I could sue for so I THOUGHT they would settle….now I am sad b/c I feel like I’m overwhelmed. HELP!!!
And in addition I wasnt sure if WE should have known what the local building code was so I asked the head of the building inspection company and he said that it is THEIR responsibility to know code and they have been told multiple time before NOT to sell illegal windows. Their attorney is also claiming that the windows were not defective in nature…but since they cannot function as windows in this parish due to hurricane code I think that they are. I checked around b/c I wanted to make sure we were NOT liable before I persued this. Thanks

has anybody EVER won a prize for doing online surveys for some stores?

I started doing online surveys a few months back (Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc) hoping I will “win” something..but I noticed ever since then I get tons of junk mail saying I won a gift card but when I try to claim it they want me to subscribe for other services or take more surveys. it seems like these surveys are scams so that companies can get your info..I guess I will stop doing them from now on..I thought someone outhere actually won something

He’s 63 years old. Retired. Likes to fish but, we don’t do it often. Likes doing home depot like projects. Always comments about how he always gets lost in Lowes. I thought about getting him a lowes giftcard but i live in a little town so i kinda doubt i can get him a gift card…. He’s so hard to buy christmas gifts for!!!??? Gotta try,….

My Mom was robbed off Craigslist? Can I file a Police report?

My mom is an old sweetheart and she found some guy on Craigslist selling a $450 gift card to Homedepot for only $300. She called and asked if they could meet up at home Depot.

When they were there the man said he was in a hurry and couldn’t go in to verify the amount on the card but said he promised that it was all there.

She went to see how much was in the card and there was only $90.
We have tried calling but, he wont answer and I have left over 6 messages.

If I knew where he lived, I would just go over and beat his @ss but I don’t.
As a last resort I am wondering if I can file a police report and give them the #phone of the man who robbed my mother of $210.00

Is it possible??? Please help!
As a side note, I was never involved in anything that my mother did.

If it was me I would have MADE SURE and I also would have MADE SURE to meet him at his house.

Simple mistake at party, almost ends up in charges. Leave well enough alone?

When Not to long ago, a woman who is working for me had a birthday, and in order to celebrate we threw her a nice party in my restaurant. I allowed the employees to give her gifts, but I wanted to do a secret gift exchange, so that nobody would feel bad if they couldn’t afford a nice gift or anything like that. So I requested all gifts be kept anonymous, like a secret santa type of situation which I’m sure most of you are familiar with.

Well, I went out to the local mall, and being that she was a young attractive, fit woman, I got her a gift card from Victoria’s Secret, then I went across to the Wal-Mart. I was shopping around a bit when I came across something I thought would be perfect. The woman had been complaining about being tense and sore from serving all day. So I decided to get her what was labeled a “personal massager” I figured it would be a good gift for a woman who was tense and sore. Well when the woman opened my gift, she saw the gift card, then pulled out the massager, and a majority of my employees fell out laughing. One of them almost peed in their pants I swear. Now I was pretty pleased at first, then somebody said “Did they also give you some Astroglide?” which I found kind of weird. Come to find out this personal massager was a masturbation tool for woman. I was shocked needless to say. On top of that it was being sold at Wal-Mart which I couldn’t believe. So I left the party and tended to some other business.

A whole 1 week later, the woman comes into my office saying that she wanted to find out who did this and file a sexual harassment grievance with the state. Ill tell you, the last thing you want as a business owner is the state coming in and regulating anything in your business. So I told the girl don’t worry about it, Ill look into it and figure it out and take action. In between her Bday and her coming in to my office, I had to let one of my employees go. He was an immigrant and wasn’t picking up on English to fast, so I had to let him go. That’s when a genius idea hit me. The next day I told her, that I did a little investigating, and told her that the fired employee, Pablo was the one who gave her the gift, and that she had nothing to worry about as he was fired and probably was back in Mexico, walking along some filthy beach with a knapsack and cheese sandwich looking for turtle eggs or something. She seemed to be satisfied with this and has sense left it alone. Now everybody, is happy, she is happy because she feels like the situation is resolved and she wont have to see this creep anymore. Pablo is out of a job, but you know how it is for those guys, you stand under a shaded tree in front of home depot for a while and your bound to get a job instantly, and he doesn’t even have to know any of this happened. As for myself I don’t have the state breathing down my back, and possibly doing something to close the doors of my restaurant, putting people out of work, and possibly onto welfare, further draining our economy and adding to the national debt, and raising the unemployment rate, people are employed and taxes get paid. All this was averted due to my quick thinking, but my wife seems to take issue with it, do to some kind of moral high horse she is riding on. Should I leave things as they are, or come clean to this young lady? I mean, if you ask me everybody was okay in the end, why keep pushing the issue.
