Why are there $100 gift cards being sold on eBay for $130 and other things like that going on?

I don’t understand. Sometimes I’ll see a gift card and it’s had six bids and the current bid is $106 and the gift card is only worth $100. I’m pretty confused, here. Can somebody explain it to me? I’ve seen a $450 Starbucks gift card being sold for $360, or a $25 gift card with a current bid of $20.50 or something like that. Those make perfect sense.

Does somebody know more about eBay that can explain what’s going on with this? I can’t believe that many people would spend one hundred and eight dollars for one hundred dollars (or something like that) without receiving something else.
@Zarn : I’m not sure what you mean. If you mean for the sake of money laundering illegal money, doing so through eBay and PayPal would leave such a huge paper trail and not seem very effective.

@Phoenix : Why would a card that is a collectible also be loaded and used? I don’t collect gift cards so I guess I wouldn’t know. But it’s a lot more than just added price for shipping, for sure. It’s a gift card and usually shipping is very minimal. But even if shipping were a single stamp, even then I probably wouldn’t spend $100.44 on a $100 gift card. I would imagine the store website would probably sell me it and not charge me the stamp.

Could i return something to bestbuy that i bought on ebay?

I bought an HD PVR off of ebay and its broke (seller wont give me a refund either and ebay don’t give a shit)

But anyways they sell the PVR at best buy so my question is could i buy a working one from best buy and put the broken one in the box and return?
